The Waterfront Botanical Gardens is one of Louisville’s most beautiful attractions. The Gardens was founded to educate, enhance, and inspire the community to cultivate their relationship with plant life. Ever since its establishment, WBG has done just that. Over the past year, the Gardens have continued to follow that mission by expanding their virtual services. Here are some of the best activities from the botanical gardens that you can enjoy from your home at Axis on Lexington, our apartments in Louisville.
Visit the Gallery
A great way to preview the gorgeous sights at WBG is by visiting their online gallery. Here, you’ll find stunning photographs of the vibrant plant life that adorns the grounds. You’ll love the gorgeous shots of all the different types of plants, from ferns to lilies to coffee trees and more. Sights of the architecture will leave you in awe, too. WBG’s Graeser Family Center and the elaborate ponds and waterfalls are incredibly impressive. These pictures will get you excited to visit in person.
Attend a Virtual Event
WBG has been engaging the community through plenty of virtual events like classes and workshops. These webinars feature WBG staff and community members who teach topics on plant science, culture, and care. You’ll find workshops that will help you hone your gardening skills and gain a deeper understanding of nature. Plus, it’s a great way to meet people and make friends.
Use the Garden Explorer
The Garden Explorer is WBG’s online database that documents all the plants in their collection. This online tool is open to the public and free to use. It’s great for people who are interested in the fine, scientific details of each plant or are just insatiable curious. The Explorer will teach you about the natural habitats of each plant, their scientific names, and more. You can also use its interactive map feature to plan out your next in-person visit.
After exploring the botanical gardens, you can bring some plant life into your home by ordering from one of these local Louisville florists. For more local suggestions and lifestyle tips, visit our blog. To learn more about joining our Louisville apartments, please contact us.Back to all posts
