Five Easy Pantry Meals

preparing a meal at home

Some days it can feel like going to the grocery store is impossible. That said, with just a little creativity you can make a great meal with ingredients you already have in your house! Below are five easy pantry meals for when leaving the house is just out of the question.

Burrito Bowl

Basic Ingredients: Rice, Beans, Salsa, Frozen Corn, Cheese

This dish couldn’t be easier! Simply cook rice and beans according to the directions on the packaging, then throw all the ingredients together in a bowl. Ground beef, sour cream, and avocados make great additions if you have them on hand!

Vegetable Soup

Basic Ingredients: Vegetable Broth, Carrots, Onions, Green Beans, Corn, Tomatoes

Canned, fresh, or frozen veggies work for this soup. Just combine all the ingredients in a large pot, bring to a boil, and enjoy! For even richer flavors, throw everything into a slow cooker and let the soup simmer all day.

Shakshuka

Basic Ingredients: Canned Pasta Sauce, Eggs, Toast for Dipping

This name may be intimidating, but this easy version of shakshuka is anything but. In a large skillet, heat the pasta sauce. Once the sauce is warm, crack 4-5 eggs directly into the sauce. On low heat, cover the skillet and cook until the eggs reach your desired level of “doneness”. Garnish with feta or parsley if you have it, and serve immediately with the toast!

Cheesy Broccoli Casserole

Basic Ingredients: Rice, Broccoli, Cheese, Onion, Cream of Mushroom Soup

This super satisfying casserole comes together in a snap. Chop the onion, combine it with cooked rice, broccoli, mushroom soup and half your cheese. Spread the mixture evenly in a casserole dish, top with your remaining cheese and bake for about 40 minutes.

Two Bean Chili

Basic Ingredients: Black Beans, Kidney Beans, Onion, Tomato Sauce, Diced Tomatoes, Chili Powder, Paprika, Garlic Powder

Endlessly adaptable, this is the ultimate pantry meal! In a large soup pot, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. If you’re adding ground beef, just be sure to brown the meat first!
