Louisville is a city of neighborhoods, each with its own unique identity. Our Louisville, KY, apartments are located near some of the city’s most notable neighborhoods, including historic Germantown. We’ve narrowed the top three places to check out, all within less than ten minutes from Axis on Lexington.
Check’s Cafe
No list about Germantown would be complete without including the iconic Check’s Cafe. This Louisville institution has been dishing up classics since 1944. If you are in the mood for some comfort food, this is the place for you. Regulars recommend getting the chicken livers. If you are into more traditional homestyle meals, their large menu also features fried catfish, chicken, and bratwurst. Be sure to wash it all down with a drink from their full bar. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Pop’s Place
Germantown is known for its neighborhood bars. Pop’s Place has been family-owned for four generations, serving up cheap cocktails in a casual setting. The bar recently underwent extensive renovations under new ownership. Despite the renovations, the bar maintains the neighborhood feel that draws people to the area. Head there on the weekends to enjoy some karaoke. Pop’s Place is open daily.
Kaiju Bar
Part bar, part live music venue, and part arcade, there really isn’t another place like Kaiju in Louisville. Located in the heart of Germantown, Kaiju serves traditional Japanese cuisine delivered daily by Dragon King’s Daughter to complement their full bar. After getting your fill of sushi and sake, head to the back to listen to a rotating group of live musicians or comedians. If you prefer to entertain yourself quietly, they have several games to choose from. Get there between 5 and 6 p.m. to enjoy $1 sake. They are open daily.
After you have spent your day in Germantown, continue to explore all Louisville has to offer and check out these cool roller skating rinks. If you are interested finding your next home at our Louisville apartments, contact us to schedule a tour.
