A pack of ramen is the perfect base for culinary creativity. With a few items you may already have, you can upgrade your noodles into something fit for a foodie!
Put an Egg in it
Simple and traditional, eggs are a great way to elevate packaged noodles. There’s no wrong way to add an egg to ramen, but the easiest route is just adding a peeled hard-boiled egg. If you’re feeling up to more of a challenge, lightly beat an egg in a small bowl. As the noodles cook, stir in the egg. Now you’ve got egg drop soup!
Add Something Fresh
Time to clean out the produce drawer? Great! Throw what you find in with your ramen. Cook heartier veggies like broccoli, carrots or peas with the noodles, but add leafier items right before serving.
Create New Flavors
Sometimes the littlest things make the biggest differences. Stir in a splash or two of vinegar, add a pinch of white pepper or squeeze in a lime. Look in your spice cabinet or see what condiments you’ve got in your fridge. Pork ramen plus smokey BBQ sauce is a surprising winner!
Beef it Up
As the noodles cook, add in thinly sliced beef or chicken breast, ham, or bacon! The possibilities here are endless, just make sure everything cooks all the way before you dig in.
Ditch the Liquid
Use the cooked noodles as a base for quick Pad Thai. After draining the water, but while the noodles are still hot, stir in a spoonful of peanut butter, soy sauce, and Sriracha to taste.
